“Growing Children, Families, and Communities in Mind, Body, and Spirit.”
Welcome to The Places You Can Grow— a space built around steady, healthy growth for little ones and the people who love them. Our hearts are in creating calm, connected days where children, adults, community rhythms, and nature all work together.
Here, we believe children thrive when they feel safe, known, and included in real life— helping grow their own food, noticing the seasons, moving their bodies, and learning through hands-on routines that build confidence.
Our Mission (and What We’re About)
At The Places You Can Grow, we focus on:
Quality connections that feels warm, simple, and consistent
Outdoor-inspired learning (gardens, food, practical life skills)
Nature time that supports curiosity, resilience, and calm
We keep things grounded and age-appropriate. Think: planting seeds, washing hands, reading together, nature walks, and everyday moments that help children grow from the inside out.
Our Philosophy: Mind, Body, and Spirit
When we first started Oh The Places You Can Go Childcare LLC, we wanted to give kids the world. We wanted them to feel like they could go anywhere and do anything. And while that’s still true, I started to notice something. In our fast-paced, digital, "go-go-go" world, we are often so busy trying to get somewhere that we forget to be somewhere.
I saw kids who knew how to use an iPad but didn't know where a carrot came from. I saw families who were stressed and disconnected, rushing from one activity to the next. I realized that if we want our children to eventually "go" and change the world, they first need deep, healthy roots to sustain them.
The Places You Can Grow is about those roots. It’s about slowing down, looking at the dirt beneath our feet, and understanding that growth takes time, sunshine, and a lot of love. We aren't just a childcare center anymore; we are a space for holistic development where we look at the whole person, the child, the parent, the neighbor, and the community.
We believe that true health isn’t just about not being sick, and true education isn’t just about knowing your ABCs. It’s about the harmony of mind, body, and spirit.
Mind
We foster a culture of curiosity. In our childcare and our community programs, we don’t just give answers; we ask questions. Why does the rain fall? How do the bees help the flowers? By connecting learning to the real world, through nature and stewardship, we turn "schooling" into a lifelong love of discovery.
Body
You can’t grow a strong mind in a tired or poorly fueled body. We focus heavily on physical wellness. This means high-quality, whole-food nutrition (often from locally grown produce and even our own gardens!), plenty of movement, and deep, restorative rest. We believe children should be active, whether we are hiking a trail, planting seeds, or playing tag with our friends!
Spirit
This is the "soul" of what we do. It’s about connection. Connection to the earth, connection to each other, and connection to one’s own inner self. We teach kindness, empathy, and resilience. We want every child and adult who walks through our doors to feel seen, valued, and grounded.
A Unique Blend: Why We’re Different
You might be wondering, "Is this a daycare? A farm? A hiking club?" The answer is: yes.
The Places You Can Grow is a unique blend of services that reflect personal passions and what we believe families truly need today. We’ve combined quality childcare with homesteading/growing food, nature exploration, and much more!
Quality Childcare
At our core, we provide a safe, nurturing environment for your little ones. But it’s not your typical cooperation, cookie cutter daycare. Our space is filled with natural materials, soft light, and purposeful activities. We treat the children in our care as capable individuals who are part of a family and community, not just "students" or “clients”.
Growing Food & Connecting with Nature
There is magic in the dirt. We integrate connection with the Earth into our daily rhythms. The kids help plant seeds, water plants, and see the cycle of life firsthand. We aren't just teaching them about biology; we’re teaching them stewardship. We’re showing them that they have the power to nurture life and provide for themselves and others.
Nature isn't just a backdrop for us, it’s the classroom. We spend as much time outside as possible. Whether it's observing bugs under a log or feeling the wind on our faces during a walk, we believe the outdoors is where the most profound growth happens.
Hiking & Movement
Hiking is a big part of my life, and I like to bring that here to share with others. We lead hikes and incorporate nature walks wherever possible. Why? Because movement is medicine. Hiking teaches resilience. It teaches you that even when the trail is steep, you can keep going. It rewards your hard work with a beautiful view and fresh air. It’s a metaphor for life that we want to share with everyone.
Community Consulting
I’ve learned a lot over the years about building a business that stays true to its values. Now, I want to help others do the same. Through our community consulting, I work with other providers and organizations to help them integrate nature, wellness, and holistic practices into their own spaces. We’re better when we grow together.
Connected to the Earth, Connected to Each Other
The heart of my mission is a simple belief: Children and families grow best when they are connected to the earth and each other.
In our modern life, we’ve become so disconnected. We buy food in plastic wrap, we communicate through screens, and we spend most of our time indoors. At The Places You Can Grow, we are intentionally pushing back against that. We want to be the bridge that brings you back to the basics.
When a child pulls a potato out of the ground, they feel a sense of accomplishment that a video game can't provide. When a parent joins us for a community hike, they find a support system of people who understand the struggles of modern parenting. When we care for our land, we are making a promise to the future.
Why Homesteading Matters in Childcare
I often get asked why I bother with the "homesteading" side of things. Isn't it easier to just buy snacks at the store and stay inside?
Sure, it’s easier. But it’s not better. It’s not healthier.
When we engage in homesteading, even in small ways, we are practicing self-reliance and patience. You can't rush a tomato. You can't make a chicken lay an egg faster. These are lessons in rhythm and season that children desperately need. In a world of instant gratification, the garden teaches us to wait, to work, and eventually, to celebrate the harvest.
It also changes the way children eat. Have you ever seen a toddler who refuses to eat greens suddenly devour a piece of kale because they were the ones who watered it? It’s transformative. We are building healthy, sustainable habits that will last them a lifetime.
Join the Growth
Whether you are a parent looking for a place where your child can truly flourish, a community member looking for a deeper connection to nature and others in the community, or a fellow educator looking for a new perspective, there is a place for you here.
We’re just people who loves the dirt, loves the trees, and loves seeing people reach their full potential. We’re trading the "going" for the "growing," and have never been happier.
The Places You Can Grow isn't just a business; it’s a life’s work. It’s a way of making the world a little bit greener, a little bit kinder, and a lot more grounded.
I invite you to dig in with us. Let’s see what we can grow together.
